29. Tim Wakefield - Boston Red Sox (40 years
old)
Wakefield, if
nothing else, is a rock of consistency. He will get you an ERA in the
mid-fours, typically around 150 strikeouts, and double digit wins. The
thing to look out for in 2007 is whether or not he gets pushed out of the
rotation and into the swing roll he's been successful with in the past.
Schilling, Beckett, Matsuzaka, and Papelbon will all be in the rotation...the
5th spot SHOULD go to
Wakefield,
but watch for a Rocket signing (slim chance) or the emergence of Jon Lester.

30. Esteban Loaiza - Oakland A's (35 years old)
Loaiza isn't the pitcher he used to be…for that one season with
Chicago…remember when he was the runner up for the AL Cy Young?
Nevermind…Loaiza is now a league average type of pitcher with the ability to
turn on the strikeouts about every three years. 2007 will be year
three...feeling lucky?

31. Vicente Padilla - Texas
Rangers (28 years old)
Padilla won 15 games last season and managed to log 200 innings for the first
time in his career. All of his peripherals are trending up, making Padilla a
potential value buy for 2007. A lot of fantasy owners will shy away from
most pitchers who call
Arlington
home...don't be one of them.

32. Jeff Weaver - Seattle
Mariners (31 years old)
Weaver pulled his career out of a tailspin late last season after being
released by the Angels when the Cardinals decided to take a flyer on him. He
pitcher fairly well down the stretch and did a fine job in the postseason,
earning himself a 2 year deal with the Mariners. He has the tools to
strikeout better than six batters a game, and serve as a solid 3# type
pitcher...but we've been saying that since he was with
Detroit.
