How many hitters have actually been better than Coco Crisp has been since the break?
|
Really???
A few players that made the list are sure to raise some eyebrows, but that means you could use the information to your advantage and acquire these guys at a discounted rate. A few such players are the following:
Coco Crisp – His .961 post-break OPS might already have him on the radars of some, but those focusing on his overall stats might not see him as such a valuable commodity. He appears to be ready for another top second-half set of numbers.
Jason LaRue – Haha, I’m just kidding. I mean, I’m sure his presence on this list does raise eyebrows, but I am by no means suggesting that he be acquired in any format. He hasn’t had a hit since July 8th, doesn’t play very often and hasn’t been any good when he does play.
Juan Rivera – He might not even rejoin the Angels until August as he is recovering from a broken leg, but his proven ability in the second half of the season could make a free agent goldmine for contenders.
Next, let’s take a look at the 24 that have made an appearance on the top 100 list in each of the three seasons:

Hardly any surprises within this list, but definitely some guys that might come at a discount given their decidedly un-superstar numbers to date. Jason Bay, Carlos Delgado, Lance Berkman, and Travis Hafner are among the best that probably would not carry a full price tag in most leagues. Delgado is coming on with a 1.025 July OPS including two home runs in 11 games since the break. Moises Alou is nearing a return from the disabled list, but has not played since May. He is among three Mets on the list with Delgado and David Wright.
