You Want These Guys…
On the junior circuit, Roy Halladay is normally a stud, but the high number of innings of late is a little troublesome. Okay, considering his injury history, a lot troublesome. Still, a must-go this week. Fausto Carmona has been a stud for most of the season, and his two starts are certainly favorable. Curt Schilling has been solid since his return, so his two should be solid this week, even with one against the Sox’ nemesis in pinstripes. Scott Kazmir and Andrew Sonnanstine have had their ups and downs, as all young pitchers will, but both are definitely on the rise.
Over in the National League, Jake Peavy, Tim Hudson, and Oliver Perez are the only surefire bets as the quality two-timers runs low with everyone cramming everyone and their half-brother from the minors into their rotations. You certainly cannot complain about getting two from that trio though.
The Top Five:
-
Jake Peavy
-
Roy Halladay
-
Tim Hudson
-
Oliver Perez
-
Curt Schilling
Eh, Not So Much…
Adam Eaton should not be on any fantasy team regardless of format, period. The two Rockies starters both have promising futures, but neither, especially Morales, is a safe pick right now. Joel Pineiro is still Joel Pineiro, and Matt Belisle is flotsam.
In the AL, Victor Santos is about to show another rotation why he was kicked out a whole bunch of others. Billy Buckner is promising, but still raw and neither of his matchups this week is favorable.
The Bottom Five:
-
Adam Eaton
-
Franklin Morales
-
Matt Belisle
-
Joel Pineiro
-
Victor Santos
The Schedule Advantages
The following teams play seven this week: the Cubs, Rockies, Athletics, Phillies, Mariners, Cardinals, Devil Rays, and Blue Jays. All the rest play six this week.
Coors Field Effect: The Rockies only play three at home, welcoming in some fish from Florida. However, their other four games are in homer-friendly Citizen’s Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia, so seven games in hitter-friendly parks await your Rockies next week!
