Jeremy Hermida has been receiving a lot more greetings like this of late.

Atlanta Braves
Hot: Sort of a mixed bag here. Rafael Soriano is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in five September appearances, and he has tossed ten straight appearances without allowing a runner to score. However, he also has not had a save since August 29, but you can blame the Braves, not Soriano, for that one, as the save opportunities just have not been there.
Not: The month of September has not been kind to Kelly Johnson. In 47 at-bats this month, Johnson is hitting a lowly .213. While his overall numbers look nice for Johnson, he has largely been mediocre for most of the season, with a .326 batting average in April and .356 in July concealing much of the mediocrity. Compare that to a .259 batting average in May, .256 in June, .269 in August, and then what he is doing this month, and you get a very different picture than the overall numbers show.
Florida Marlins
Hot: Jeremy Hermida lost most of last year due to injury, and this was supposed to be his first big season. His first half was just plain atrocious, with a .231 batting average before the All-Star game, but he has hit .335 since, with nine home runs, 28 RBI, and 29 runs in 200 at-bats.
Not: Josh Willingham is ending the season not with a bang but with a whimper. Since hitting two home runs on August 23, Willingham has yet to hit one, and he has just five RBI in his last 62 at-bats.
New York Mets
Hot: Shawn Green made some noise earlier in the season with his hot bat. Sure, he was not hitting for power – he cannot do that anymore – but he was hitting for average. He is doing that again, hitting .360 in 25 at-bats over his last ten games, with four walks and only two strikeouts, and he picked up three RBI and four runs scored.
Not: Oliver Perez has done a nice job turning things around this year, but he has struggled over his last ten starts, tossing a quality start in just four of them.
Philadelphia Phillies
Hot: Pat Burrell is not hitting for average right now, but when does he ever? He is hitting for plenty of power, though, with three home runs, nine RBI, and nine runs scored in his last ten games.
Not: Remember how Carlos Ruiz took over as the primary catcher because he was the hitting catcher? Well, he cannot remember that either. Ruiz’ average on the season has dropped to .257 after hitting just .219 over the last ten games.
Washington Nationals
Hot: The Red Sox always said Wily Mo Pena would produce if given regular playing time, but they never gave him regular playing time. They could have, but instead they wasted money on J.D. Drew and then ultimately had to trade Pena off. Now with a team that will play him, Pena is responding – over his last ten games, Wily Mo is hitting .341 with three home runs, seven RBI, and seven runs scored.
Not: I know Nook Logan is not an RBI machine or anything, but this is just ridiculous. This month, over 44 at-bats, Logan has just one RBI. Just one – most pitchers have more. Of course, he is also hitting just .205 for the month, so he is not producing many non-run-producing hits either.
