Kevin Garnett - NBA Weekly Grumblings
Garnett in his holiday colors.

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,

Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

Front lawns were adorned with snowmen and sleigh,

And high up above Old St. Nick made his way.

The lights were off and the fire was lit,

But two little children stayed up for a bit.

When all were sleeping it was little Joey and Jacklene,

Who stayed up through the night studying their NBA fantasy team.

With one quarter of the season now in the books,

The two kids went to see how their teams now looked.

With the first pick in the draft they had taken Garnett,

And saw that his stats weren’t as good as they’d have bet.

Sure he is averaging a solid double-double,

But the Celtics blow-outs had caused him some trouble.

It was impossible to see at the time,

But he should have drafted the man dropping the dimes.

Chris Paul is the one leading the Hornets,

Looking like old Jason Kidd of the New Jersey Nets.

LeBron James is exciting to watch and never boring,

While averaging 29 he’s leading the league in scoring.

Not far behind is the one and only Tyrant,

On the Los Angeles Lakers in No. 24, Kobe Bryant.

One guy they’re glad they eventually took,

Is Rudy Gay whose stats jump off the book.

He’s come a long way in his couple years,

But drafting Gilbert Arenas has brought them some tears.

There have been injuries and some players are gone,

But that’s only made room for new stars like Caron.

Butler that is who is holding up his crew,

Grabbing seven boards while dropping twenty-two.

Things are looking up for guys like Amare,

It’s people like Wade and Shaq who look sorry.

Wade still looks hurt and the Diesel looks old,

Maybe that’s what’s keeping Riley’s boys so darn cold.

The Bulls, Knicks and Heat are just going through the moves,

And don’t enjoy winning and just seem to like to lose.

The Celtics are surging having lost barely a game,

But the recharged Pistons are looking to regain their fame.

Out of the West the Suns might finally get a crown,

But the Spurs are the champs until someone takes them down.

As the night grew late the kids’ eyes began to close,

And dreams filled their head of power forwards throwing elbows.

Satisfying their need they quietly went to bed,

As league-leading stats danced in their head.

Their eyes finally shut as they slept fully dressed,

Knowing their team would be all right as the season progressed.

They had dreams of improving their team as they laid,

Hoping the morning and Santa would bring them news of a trade.
