NBA owners still alive in the playoff rounds -- pay heed...

The big man returned Monday...
Jermaine O'Neal
Waiver Wire

Pick 'Em Up

Shaquille O'Neal - This seems ridiculous, but O'Neal is not owned in all leagues. On Miami he had little worth, often injured and just plain old. Even when he first joined the Suns, it took time to work him into the offense. But now he's all in, and making it happen. Over his last five games, O'Neal is averaging 16.0 PPG and 9.8 RPG while shooting 61-percent. His first five games with Phoenix, he barely scored more than 10 a game - the Suns lost three of those five. But they've won 10 of their last 12 and O'Neal is the difference in the middle.

Jermaine O'Neal - The big man returned Monday night and chances are he's available on your wire. He had nine points on 3-of-4 shooting in 17 minutes. Though he's only played in 33 games this year, O'Neal is an all-star caliber center in this league. If you have an extra roster spot and don't mind waiting a few games, picking up O'Neal could be the type of move that gets your team over the hump.

Josh Childress - As Atlanta makes their playoff push, Childress is their X-factor. When he's on, the Hawks win (the opposite is also true). Though he's always been slightly inconsistent, over his last five he's dropping 16.2 PPG coming off the bench. He shoot s solid percentage (58.2) and usually gets a 3-pointer a game.

Turn 'Em Loose

Nazr Mohammed - This guy just doesn't get it done night-in-night-out. He has flashes of brilliance (March 22 - 16 points, 14 rebounds) but mostly seems content just getting by. There are just too many players on the Bobcats that overshadow Mohammed. The other starters (besides Raymond Felton) all rebound, which is why Mohammed grabs just 5.9 RPG at 6-foot-10. And obviously he's really not a scoring threat. Go elsewhere for value.

Grant Hill - Hill is one of this year's waiver wire floaters. Chances are he was dropped and picked up multiple times (maybe even drafted), but lately has been off. This month, he's scoring just 9.4 PPG after averaging more than 13 his season. And now he's coming down with typical Hill injuries - he's got an injured wrist and now he missed Monday night's thriller due to a strained groin. Look for him to miss more games as the team gets him healthy for the playoffs.

Andray Blatche - Blatche was hot for a while. When Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler were out with injuries, Blatche became a life saver in Washington - and they might owe their season to him. But now he's nothing. This month, he's scoring just 5.5 PPG and getting 3.9 RPG while playing just 16 minutes. That's compared to a February at 10.6  and 7.5. Drop him.
