East Coast Bias - Apr. 4, 2009

Eric Gibbs
Eric Gibbs is a lifelong Boston sports fan currently residing on the south side
of Chicago. In his spare time he likes to dabble in fantasy sports,
particularly baseball and football. He greatly enjoys digging up those hidden
gems that will help your teams. He survives in Chicago by mentioning "it will
be the Cubs and the Red Sox this year in the World Series". By Eric Gibbs

Atlanta Hawks
Josh Smith surpassed 100 blocks
for his fifth straight season on Tuesday.
Although a great accomplishment, its way down from his recent 200 blocks
output which you might have counted on when drafting him this year.
Boston Celtics
Kevin Garnett has shut it down for
the season although there is optimism that he will play the remaining three
games of the season. On top of that the
C’s only play two games next week against New Jersey and Miami.
Charlotte Bobcats
Gerald Wallace recently went for 20
and 10 against the Celtics in a double overtime loss. The Bobcats blew an eight-point lead in the
last two minutes of the game, which is unexplainable so I will not try. Charlotte has four games on tap this week so
playing the likes of Wallace and D.J.
Augustine is highly recommended.
Chicago Bulls
John Salmons and the Bulls are
eyeing an eight-seed playoff bid. They
have three games this week, which should be competitive because two of the
three are against potential playoff teams.
I would start Salmons and Ben
Gordon if you got him.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Mo Williams is a must start in
three games they have next week. One of
the games will be a rematch against the Washington Wizards who miraculously
beat the Cavs in DC. J.J. Hickson’s numbers have declined of
late so drop him in your rotation.
Detroit Pistons
Rip Hamilton has been carrying
the team on his back down the stretch so I would ride him as long as you
can. Allen Iverson has been playing but not well so I’d cut him if you
were entrenched in the fantasy playoffs.
Indiana Pacers
T.J. Ford is averaging 14.6 points, 6.8
assists, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 turnovers in the last five games. The Pacers are
4-1 in those games. Indiana has four
games to play this week so I’d load up on their players such as Ford and Danny Granger.
Miami Heat
Dwayne Wade and the Heat have
two games next week and both are against formidable opponents in the Hornets
and Celtics. The will also play the
remaining games short handed because Luther
Head broke his hand and will not play.
This will increase playing time for Daequan
Cook and Chris Quinn. Both players have been struggling so I would
not play or acquire them.
Milwaukee Bucks
Ramon Sessions has been doing his
thing of late and you should grab him in pick and play during your fantasy
playoff push. It will be brief
production since the Bucks only have two games on the slate this week.
New Jersey Nets
Kenyon Dooling is up to his old
tricks on the offensive end. He recently
scored 23 points in a Nets win against the Pistons. They played Dooling and Devon Harris together in that game which seems to be a cohesive
backcourt.
New York Knicks
The
Knicks have four games in the upcoming week so stack some New Yorkers on your
team. Unfortunately, you will not have Danilo Gallinari. Taken with the No. 6 pick in the
draft, Gallinari missed most of the first 2 1/2 months after experiencing back
pain in summer league. He finished the season with an average of 6.1 points in
28 games.
Orlando Magic
The
Magic has four games this week and they are against lesser teams. Start your Courtney Lee and Michael
Pietrus for adequate guard play.
Orlando recently blew a game against the Raptors and it could have an
effect on their playoff seeding. The
loss had a lot to do with poor free throw shooting (10-21).
Philadelphia 76ers
Marreese
Speights will play in place of Thadeus
Young for the time being. Speights
is very decent so add him to your roster down the stretch.
Toronto Raptors
The
Raptors have not mailed it in as most experts have anticipated. I would continue to go with your big guns in Chris Bosh and Jose Calderon.
Washington Wizards
Gilbert Arenas played against the
Cleveland Cavs and played fairly well.
Clearly the Wizards step their game up and play big against Cleveland
based on recent playoff history. I would
play Arenas right now since he has a chip on his shoulder.
