Adrienne Lucas likes 'em young-- hence the selection of Lions' rookie WR Calvin Johnson.

Explain
your pre-draft strategy for this type of draft format.
Being that I was an
alternate that jumped into the fray less than two hours prior to the start, my
strategy was simple; Don’t make a
fool out of yourself! Actually, my
primary goal was to get my starting line-up (minus Defense and Kicker)
solidified by round eight. Other than that, I need to get a little better
at these serpentine things.
When I went for depth, I
wanted youth that had a chance to make a splash, hence the four rookies on the roster.
The pick of Greg Olsen (TE-CHI)
was probably my worst pick. I was looking at available players and didn’t
realize it was even my turn. I happened to look at the clock and noticed
I didn’t have much time left on the clock so I took the first player my eyes recognized.
Not the smartest way to do things but at least I didn’t miss my pick!
Explain
the thought process behind your first-round selection.
Picking from the 10 spot,
I was looking for any Running Back that was not mired in a dreaded RBBC.
I had a feeling that Rudi Johnson
would be there when I came up and he was. His consistency over the last
few years made me grab him. There definitely isn’t an immediate threat to
take the starting job this year. I kinda like that in my RB1.
Which
was your best value pick, and why?
Ladell
Betts in the seventh round. I was pondering
on who to pick in that spot and was looking at WR when I decided to look around
at RB. When I saw Betts there, I had to jump. With Clinton Portis nursing injuries and not
proving all that durable recently made me do it. Any time you can get a
quality back up to a starter that has been nursing injuries (see Fred Taylor), you have to do it.
Betts may even see the ball a decent amount of time. I’ve been hearing a 60/40
split in favor of Portis but that could be just a rumor.
Which
pick would you “do over” if you had the chance, and why?
Marc
Bulger in the sixth. I should have gone with another
WR there and I didn’t. It was a definite reach to take him there but I
also liked the fact that Steven Jackson
is starting to get more involved in the passing game and Randy McMichael coming over from the Dolphins.
With Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Randy McMichael
and Steven Jackson, this offense
will be nothing less than potent.
Not
including yourself, which owner had the best overall draft, and why?
Justin Kopacz has a really strong squad. His passig game looks to be awesome, with that Carson Palmer to Chad Johnson and Steve Smith (as well as Alge Crumpler). Larry Johnson is a workhorse, and I think he'll get his contract squared away. The only question with this squad is whether Jordan, Jones or Turner can be a legit RB2.
Not
including yourself, which owner had the worst overall draft, and why?
Moshovetis went a bit overboard on the RBs, but it seems to me like he didn't really get a true #1 out of the deal-- Maroney isn't 100%. His QBs are also a weird mix of too old (Favre) and too young (Alex Smith). It looks as if Mojo needs to have a lot of different things fall into place for his team to be in the money at the end of the season.
