FFL-120: Attracting Owners
Fantasy football is a passion best shared with good friends and family. But lacking that you can always find some strangers to abuse.

With over 10 million participants worldwide it isn't that difficult to find seven or more guys or gals to help you participate in this hobby of ours.

First start with those you know best. Take yourself down to the local grocery store and find the latest fantasy football magazine – they start appearing in mid-June. Pick up a copy and take it, along with your league rules, over to your brother's place. Or to your father's or your uncles or anyone that you have made a habit of spending Sundays in the fall with.

The point is that if they enjoy watching the NFL then they will probably enjoy competing in a fantasy league.

After you finish there call up some of your old high school or college buddies. You might even be surprised to find some of the girlfriends or wives asking to play as well.

Check with the folks at your office. Remember all you need is seven more folks and you have yourself a league.

I know several people that have run leagues with members of their church. One of my best friends in fantasy football is a pastor on Oahu (one of the Hawaiian Islands). One of the many advantages to competing with members from your church is that you can often borrow a room for your draft and/or your Super Bowl party.

If you are new in town you can head for the local sports bar. Seems like the tiniest of villages have one now-a-days.

On the Internet you have several options.

You can stop by the rec.sport.football.fantasy newsgroup, but be aware it is not for the faint of heart.

There are several fantasy football websites that have chat channels or forums. As the football season approaches these forums start heating up and people are always looking for a new league to play in. You can visit one and post how many openings you have then sit back and wait for the emails.

The bottom line is that anywhere you find football fans; you are likely to find people willing to join your fantasy league.

Attracting owners to your league is nothing more than looking for friends to share some special times with.
