This is what Chargers fans should look forward to seeing: Rivers handing the ball off to LT... not having him drop back to pass.

Stock Up
QB Derek Anderson, Browns
This guy has impressed me. The Browns may not win a lot of games this
season, but Anderson has put up credible stats. He seems to throw for at least 200 yards and one touchdown in
every game, because the Browns have to come from behind.
RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars
I had a hunch that Jones-Drew was
ready to explode last week, and I was right.
It would surprise me if he didn’t take over the main rushing duties from
Fred Taylor, because he’s much more productive. Owners that were patient with him will be well rewarded by year’s
end.
RB Reggie Bush, Saints
Folks familiar with the column
know that I’m not a Bush fan, but I’m not an idiot. The McAllister injury has paved the way for Bush to get a huge amount of touches. I’m still not sold on Bush as a featured running back, but he’ll be very good for the remainder of year.
WR Donte Stallworth, Patriots
Stallworth is finally taking
advantage of the Randy Moss double teams.
He’s had two strong games in a row after being invisible for the first
month of the season. Stallworth is too
inconsistent to ever be worth much in a trade, but I’d use a waiver on him in a
heartbeat.
WR Kevin Curtis, Eagles
Curtis is much like Stallworth,
because he’s only had two good games all year.
He’s played one less game than Stallworth due to the bye week, so his
inconsistency isn’t quite as bad. The
good news is that Curtis is one of the best deep threats in the league if he
can stay healthy.
Stock Down
QB Philip Rivers, Chargers
It’s becoming painfully clear to his owners
that he’s not a QB1. The Chargers have
turned their season around, but Rivers has not. The turnaround has been built on the legs of peerless LaDainian
Tomlinson, not the arm of Rivers.
RB Shaun Alexander, Seahawks
Stick a fork in this guy, because
he’s done. Either he’s way more banged
up that we’re being told or he just plain sucks. In either case, you’ve got to find yourself a more reliable RB1,
because Alexander just isn’t cutting it any more. I don’t mean to pick on my radio co-hosts, but I’ve got
to laugh when I recall the two Johns (Georgopoulos and Rakowski) telling me
that Alexander was still a top-ten draft pick.
Yeah, right. By the end of the season, he’ll be lucky to have a job in
this league if he doesn’t pick up the pace.
RB Brandon Jacobs, Giants
Is there a more injury-prone big
man than Jacobs? OK, maybe Bill Walton,
but we’re talking football and present day.
I went to bed last Monday night feeling pretty good about the game,
because the Giants were winning big. I
was fairly certain that there would be a healthy dose of Jacobs left, right,
and up the middle in the second half. I
woke up to find out that Reuben Droughns was the leading ball carrier in the
game with 90 yards rushing and the LONE rushing touchdown. Thanks Brandon, you big turd!
WR Torry Holt, Rams
Holt may read this column and go
on to have a fabulous remainder of the season, but I wouldn’t count on either
of those things. He’s been slow to
recover from off-season knee surgery, and the team is a mess. His starting quarterback (Bulger) is out, and
Gus Frerotte has more interceptions than touchdown passes.
TE Alge Crumpler, Falcons
This LOSER should stop ripping Bobby
Petrino in the papers and start catching the ball. He dropped at least two catchable balls last week against the
Giants after taking Petrino to task for running a lame offense. Memo to Crumpler: players play and coaches coach.
Shut up and do your job!
