Yet another man who broke the heart of our author...

First off, I would like to start with
expressing my hope that all those affected by the wildfires in Southern
California will at least find themselves and their families safe.
Belongings can be replaced, for the most part. Lives cannot.
Also, don’t forget those fine
people fighting the fire, the police who are maintaining order and the
volunteers who are helping out those who have lost everything. The event
is always the focus of the story but the people make all the difference in how
it is handled. These people deserve a spot in your thoughts and
prayers. I’m not going to pretend I know how these people feel because I
don’t.
Miami and the Giants go across the pond to play in Wembley Stadium this weekend. The game lost a
little luster when Ronnie Brown was lost for the season. My question is
why in the world are we playing a regular season game overseas? This is a
Dolphin “home” game but Miami loses in that
deal. If you’re going to do this, at least make it equitable to all
teams.
For instance, if you want games
outside the US (Germany , England and Mexico have
been mentioned), add an extra week to the season and take away a pre-season
game. This way, each team will have eight home games, eight away games
and one international game. Keep the bye week in play but make the
regular season 17 games vice 16. This way the “home fans” don’t lose a “home game”. It’s only fair considering that those fans probably had to pony up full price for seven home games. It’s all about the money now and the fans are pushed to the curb. Hell, the average fan can’t even come close to the Super Bowl. Corporate sponsors and the media take up the majority of the seats.
Now, on to fantasy life. Ronnie Brown’s injury has really hurt numerous teams. In HAFA scoring, as I’m sure with most any other scoring system, he was the top RB in scoring. LT was catching him but it was Ronnie Brown leading the way. That’s a lot of points to lose. Hopefully you have some serious depth and are not having to rely of Jesse Chatman. If you are forced down that road, you season could be over. If Chatman is available in your league, you’d best go get him.
That goes for a lot of Running
Backs. Many have missed time due to injury and if you don’t have their handcuff, you could be hurting really bad for the stretch run. If you haven’t thought to do so already, make that move to grab at least one handcuff for your RBs. If you have the roster space, you might want to consider grabbing a handcuff for your RB2 also. It never hurts if you can handle having that handcuff depth on the roster.
For some of you, it could be too
late. Now would be a good time to look at your roster, find our where
your strengths lie and find someone who is weak at that position but is strong
where you need the help. Always try to deal from a position of strength
to someone else’s position of weakness.
Well, that’s it for now so until next time, it’s time for this one to Ramble On. See Ya!
