The Redskins getting crushed by the Patriots meant a great IDP day for DB LaRon Landry.

Defensive Linemen
Amobi Okoye, Houston Texans
Season Stats: 17 solos, 2 assists, 4.0 sacks, 0 INT, 1 FF, 0 Pass Def.
Last Week: 3 solos, 1 assist, 0 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 0 Pass Def.
As you’ll have with all defensive
tackles, you won’t get many tackles while hoping for a sack or two to fall your way. Okoye had a few weeks of strong play, but should not be counted on in IDP leagues unless without position specificity.
Gaines Adams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Season Stats: 9 solos, 7 assists, 1.5 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 1 Pass Def.
Last Week: 0 solos, 1 assist, 0.5 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 0 Pass Def.
We’re mentioning Adams this week
mostly because we felt Okoye was getting lonely as the rookie lineman de
jour. Adams got to see the field a bit
as of late, and recorded half of a sack while filling in for the then injured
Greg Spires. You could obviously do
better than Adams in IDP leagues, but he may get a little more burn as the
season wears on.
Linebackers
Patrick Willis, San Francisco 49ers
Season Stats: 52 solos, 21 assists, 0 sacks, 0 INT, 1 FF, 2 Pass Def.
Last Week: 6 solos, 4 assists, 0 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 0 Pass Def.
Another week of double-digit tackles for the rookie. The Niners offense is just deplorable, allowing Willis to be on the field for plenty of downs. This week brings the Atlanta Falcons that will look to increase the carries of second-year back Jerious Norwood. Thus, it should be more of the same for Willis who will look to rack up at least 10 tackles for the fifth straight week.
Jon Beason, Carolina Panthers
Season Stats: 38 solos, 12 assists, 0 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 3 Pass Def.
Last Week: 2 solos, 3 assists, 0 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 2 Pass Def.
Though Beason didn’t dominate last
week like many would have liked, the Tennessee Titans have allowed over 11
tackles per game to opposing middle linebackers this season. Needless to say, Beason is a must-start
against Vince Young and company this week.
Get him in there and hope that the rookie can increase the
aforementioned average.
Defensive Backs
LaRon Landry, Washington Redskins
Season Stats: 32 solos, 18 assists, 0.5 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 2 Pass Def.
Last Week: 11 solos, 4 assists, 0 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 0 Pass Def.
Wow. If this guy was dropped a few weeks ago after his back-to-back two tackle outings, he shouldn’t be available after this past week. While the Redskins were dominated on the road, Landry was on the field a lot, and it showed in his 15 tackles. The Jets will obviously be a bit of a weaker opponent this week, but with Laveranues Coles out with a concussion; they may rely on the run a bit more – meaning more fruit for Landry to pick.
Eric Wright, Cleveland Browns
Season Stats: 46 solos, 3 assists, 0 sacks, 1 INT, 0 FF, 6 Pass Def.
Last Week: 5 solos, 0 assists, 0 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 1 Pass Def.
While this line doesn’t even compare to that of Landry, it was another solid day for Wright, especially if defended passes counted in your league. The Seattle Seahawks will have D.J. Hackett and Deion Branch back, which should open up the passing game a bit for Matt Hasselbeck. Wright’s successes follow when teams pick on him, which should be the case for yet another week.
