With Morgan out, Beason assumes leadership of the Panthers' LB corps.

Defensive Linemen
Amobi Okoye, Houston Texans
Season Stats: 20 solos, 4 assists,
5.0 sacks, 0 INT, 1 FF, 0 Pass Def.
Last Week: 3 solos, 2 assists, 1.0
sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 0 Pass Def.
An increase in tackles as well as
another sack. Just another day in the
life of a 19-year old defensive lineman.
The Texans are on a bye week this time around, so owners will have to
find a spot fill for week 10.
Linebackers
Patrick Willis, San Francisco 49ers
Season Stats: 60 solos, 23
assists, 1.0 sacks, 0 INT, 1 FF, 2 Pass Def.
Last Week: 8 solos, 2 assists, 1.0
sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 0 Pass Def.
Ladies and Gentlemen, your rookie
of the month for October. He’s already
accounted for two Rookie of the Week awards, so this is just another notch in
his Freshman belt. Though he injured
his hand, the linebacker is expected to play this week as the Niners take on
their division foe Seahawks. With 60
solos on the season, he’s well on his way to bring down triple-digits on his
own.
Jon Beason, Carolina Panthers
Season Stats: 47 solos, 14
assists, 0 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 3 Pass Def.
Last Week: 9 solos, 2 assists, 0
sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 0 Pass Def.
With Dan Morgan done for the
season, the Carolina linebacking corps is now in the hands of their first round
draft selection. Fresh off of a 11
tackle game last week, Beason will now face the division rival Falcons whom
will likely show a lot of run resulting in a must-start for the
linebacker. He should be a LB1 from
here out given his opportunity, so plan accordingly.
Defensive Backs
LaRon Landry, Washington Redskins
Season Stats: 36 solos, 21
assists, 1.5 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 3 Pass Def.
Last Week: 4 solos, 3 assists, 1.0
sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 1 Pass Def.
Landry finally recorded
his first full sack of the season last week en route to another solid IDP
afternoon. The Eagles will provide
plenty of tackle attempts as Brian Westbrook will have his hands on the
ball a lot. Landry looks like he has
fully bounced back from this two-week doldrums earlier this year and should be
in all IDP lineups.
Eric Wright, Cleveland Browns
Season Stats: 52 solos, 4 assists,
0 sacks, 1 INT, 0 FF, 7 Pass Def.
Last Week: 6 solos, 1 assist, 0
sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF, 1 Pass Def.
Wright has not recorded less than
five solo tackles since the week three loss to Oakland. He has 19 solos over the past three weeks
and is a bigger bonus in leagues that reward for defended passes as teams
continue to test the rookie DB. The
Steelers will provide Wright with plenty of challenges, but look for him to be
right there each time Hines Ward or Santonio Holmes haul in a
pass.
