Going Up/Going Down

WR Lance Moore is starting to pick up steam in the Saints' offense.

Going Up

Mewelde Moore, RB Steelers:
Moore will get the reigns of the Steelers running game for the next week or two, given that Willie Parker is still hurt and Rashard Mendenhall got placed on IR. Moore is a good receiver out of the backfield and can scamper for a few yards here and there. He'll do in a bye week pinch, the same way your cousin does for you rubes when you can't score a hot chick.

Deuce McAllister, RB Saints:
McAllister finally got into the "normal" swing of things. While his line (20-73-1) was not very impressive, the important thing here is that he got on the field and assumed the role the Saints need for him to fill: he can keep the heat off Reggie Bush. If he gets back to his previous role from 2006, McAllister should be good for 7-8 scores and about 70 yards a game. And that ain't bad for this time of year.

Rudi Johnson, RB Lions: Rookie Kevin Smith has simply not taken the league by storm, and Johnson's nifty performance in Week 3 (131 total yards, 1 TD)  tells me that Johnson should start to get 15 carries a game, minimum. If he's available, take a flyer on RJ.

Lance Moore, WR Saints: Moore is another guy that is likely available in your league. After back-to-back games where he hauled in seven passes in each, Moore should be viewed as the potential receiver starting opposite Marques Colston when Colston returns from his injury. At worst, Moore would make an excellent slot option for QB Drew Brees, especially with TE Jeremy Shockey on the shelf for several weeks.

Going Down

Matt Cassel, QB Patriots: Cassel has looked mediocre in two starts, and although it might not be fair, the Patriots did suffer their first regular season loss since 2006 with him under center. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cassel benched in the next 2-3 weeks.

Alge Crumpler, TE Titans: Hey, wasn't Crumpler supposed to be the main receiving focus in Tennessee? Here's how much this fat load sucks in 2008: he's been outplayed by Bo Scaife. At his current pace, Crumpler will haul in just 20 passes this year. That is the very definition of a loser.

Roy Williams, WR Lions: What's going on with Williams? In three games, his stat line reads 8-113-1. What the @#%!^ is wrong with this picture? Eight catches over three games? Any other year, that 8-113-1 would be one game's production from Williams. There's been rumors that the Lions are trying to trade him. It's notoriously difficult for trades to get done mid-stream in the NFL, so stories of William's impending trade may be greatly exaggerated. Regardless, until something breaks-- either a trade or Jon Kitna remembering that Williams is on the field-- Williams is a no-start.
