The Inside Slant - Sneaky Start of the Week

Hopefully this one will go much better than my last two suggestions (J.P. Losman and JaMarcus Russell). So why Amani Toomer? Because I think he’s going to have a big game this week against the Cowboys. With Plaxico Burress now out for the season, expect Eli Manning to use the reliable Toomer much more down the stretch. Plus, Toomer has had some big games against the Cowboys in the past. Dallas secondary sucks, although it might get better without Pacman Jones on the field. Still, possession receivers like Toomer give the Cowboys problems because the Dallas defensive backs play so far off the receivers. Look for Toomer to put up some big numbers this Sunday.

The Inside Slant - Jerry Jones Should be Shot

I have been a Cowboys fan for 30 years. In that time, one of the toughest guys to put on a Cowboys uniform is Marion Barber. This guy is as tough as they come with a heart the size of a lion. This week Jerry Jones questioned Barber's toughness when the running back said he couldn't play because of his dislocated toe. This is the same Jerry Jones who defends guys like Terrell Owens and Pacman Jones whenever possible. Owens, who routinely leads the NFL in drops, and Jones who has been a waste of a roster spot since signing with the Cowboys. Funny, I don't hear Jones criticizing them. Barber is one of the most respected players in that locker room. Why? Because he does his talking on the field instead of in the media. The problem with the Cowboys is they need more players like Barber, instead of the heartless prima donnas that currently make up that roster. Either that or they need Jones to sell the team, which would be the happiest day of my life.

If you are looking for a quarterback to put up big numbers against the Bengals or Lions then Tony Romo is your man. If you are looking for a quarterback to make a stupid mistake in a crucial moment during a big game then Tony Romo is your man. But if you are looking for a quarterback who can't stand up to the pressure of a big game then Tony Romo is the other team's man. Nice game Romo. I'll look forward to next season when you light up the Lions you fraud.

The Inside Slant - What are the Bills Trying to Accomplish?

When is the last time the Bills scored a touchdown? Was it this year? I can't remember. I'm sorry but this is a disgrace. To go two games in the NFL without scoring a touchdown is ridiculous. You should be able to score at least once by accident. Dick Jauron is a a good coach. The problem is he's a good coach in the IVY League, not the NFL. Somewhere Jim Kelly must be crying.

The Inside Slant - Time for a QB Change in Jacksonville

With all the problems the Jaguars are having this season, one of the biggest has been the play of QB David Garrard. After a breakout season in 2007, Garrard has regressed badly this year. In the first half against the Bears, Garrard is 4-of-11 for 33 yards and an interception. It's not all Garrard's fault in Jacksonville but he's flat-out not getting the job done. When Byron Leftwich has looked better than you this season, that's a problem. Time for Garrard to take a seat.

The Inside Slant - J.P. Losman is Worth a Look

I play in one of those stupid two-quarterback leagues that forces people to start guys like Trent Edwards. So when Edwards got hurt, I picked up J.P. Losman as a replacement. At first I was obviously not very excited about the move but after thinking about it, Losman could be a good play this week. It seems that when Losman is under center, the Bills throw the ball down the field more and get receiver Lee Evans involved in the offense. Losman is far from a stud but Edwards has not been progressing like most thought he would. The Dolphins rank 26th in the NFL when it comes to defending the pass so this could be the week that Buffalo gets its doormat offense going a little bit.

Roy Williams - I'm sure some people are starting Williams now, even though you probably shouldn't be. But this is the week I expect Williams to break out for Dallas. First off, no team runs the ball on the Steelers. Throw in an injured Marion Barber and the Cowboys will have to move the ball through the air. Now the Steelers play a lot of man coverage because they like to blitz but they will often give safety help on Terrell Owens. This will allow Tony Romo to hit Williams down the field for some big plays due to the single coverage. The way to attack the Steelers is to throw the ball vertically. I think Williams tops the century mark this week and has a big game against the Steelers.

The Inside Slant - Barber isn't the Choice this Week

Marion Barber will attempt to play this Sunday in the Cowboys big showdown against the Steelers but I’m told that he’ll be around 70 percent at best. Barber’s injured toe might not hold up, especially in the cold conditions expected for the game. You may want to sit Barber this week, as rookie Tashard Choice will get some carries on Sunday even if Barber plays.

The Saints Deuce McAllister was one of six players suspended by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse program. The players used a diuretic, which can serve as a masking agent for steroids. As a guy who has been around weight lifting for many years, I can tell you that the drug taken by these players does very little to help one lose weight. I would say that 80 percent of people who take the drug take it to mask for steroid testing. In my educated opinion, these players were all on steroids and got punished accordingly. This is good news for Reggie Bush owners, who won't have to worry about Deuce stealing any goal carries. That job now belongs to Pierre Thomas.

JaMarcus Russell is a big pile of poop. The year he came out in the draft I was at the NFL Combine and scouts used three words to describe Russell: Lazy, stupid and a word that begins with the letter "N" that I can't repeat here. It appears he's living up to all three labels. He blows.
