Kitna Reportedly to be Cut
FANTASY INSIGHT:
The Detroit Lions plan to release quarterback Jon Kitna, according to a report by the Booth Newspapers.
The team doesn't intend to pay an upcoming $1 million roster bonus in Kitna's contract and will release him if it can't trade him first, according to the report.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Lions officials met with QB prospect Matthew Stafford over dinner here Thursday night.

The weeklong uncertainty surrounding Jon Kitna's injury status continues, a day after the Lions' quarterback -- out because of a back injury -- missed his first start in two-plus seasons in Detroit.
"The situation with Jon is still up in the air," said Martin Mayhew, who has taken control of the Lions' football operations since Matt Millen was fired as team president Sept. 24. The new tandem of Colletto and Brown -- promoted to replace Mike Martz, who was fired on Jan. 3 -- also does not guarantee that Jon Kitna will be the starting quarterback.
Kitna, who started all 32 games the last two seasons under Martz, will go to training camp as the No. 1 quarterback, coach Rod Marinelli said at is Thursday presser.

QB Jon Kitna (left shoulder) was limited on Wednesday but practiced fully on Thursday and is expected to start. He underwent the same regimen last week and was uninhibited Sunday in Arizona.
