Steelers safety Ryan Clark won’t play in Denver
FANTASY INSIGHT:
Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark will sit out Sunday’s exhibition game in Denver because playing at a high altitude can trigger a red blood cell condition that caused him to lose his spleen and gall bladder after a 2007 game there.
Clark also didn’t play in the Steelers’ regular season game in Denver last season. He does plan to run before Sunday night’s game, as he did last year, to test his reaction to being in the mile-high atmosphere. (AP)

FANTASY INSIGHT:
Steelers outside linebacker Andre Frazier will miss the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with a knee injury.
Frazier has appeared in 60 games with the Steelers and Bengals since 2005, including 29 with Pittsburgh the last two seasons while playing mostly on special teams. (AP)

The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to a five-year contract with first-round center Maurkice Pouncey, a league source confirmed.
The former University of Florida standout was drafted 18th overall. Pouncey is slated to compete for a starting job at right guard. Eventually, he's expected to move to center full-time. (National Football Post)

Steelers sign Tomlin through 2012, with option
FANTASY INSIGHT:
The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed coach Mike Tomlin to a two-year contract extension through the 2012 season, with an option year in 2013.
The extension was expected because the Steelers' policy has been to sign a coach before he begins the final season of a contract. Tomlin is only the Steelers' third coach since 1969, following Chuck Noll (1969-91) and Bill Cowher (1992-2006). (AP)

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the Steelers have given coach Mike Tomlin a three-year contract extension.
The newspaper says Steelers president Art Rooney negotiated the deal. Terms were not available.

Steelers right tackle Willie Colon has injured his right Achilles’ tendon while working out at the team’s practice complex.
If the tendon is torn, Colon is likely to require surgery that would end his season.
Director of football operations Kevin Colbert said Colon was being evaluated by the team’s medical staff. Colon left the team’s practice building Monday on crutches. (AP)

Roethlisberger cleared to return to Steelers
FANTASY INSIGHT:
Ben Roethlisberger was cleared by the NFL on Thursday to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers beginning next week, although no decision has been made on the length of his suspension.
The quarterback was suspended without pay for six games last month by commissioner Roger Goodell after a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault in Milledgeville, Ga. No charges were filed. (AP)

FANTASY INSIGHT:
Steelers wide receiver Limas Sweed left the final minicamp practice with what appears to be a serious Achilles tendon injury, coach Mike Tomlin revealed.
Sweed, the team's second-round draft pick in 2008, was mounting a comeback from some emotional issues that caused the Steelers to place him on injured reserve for the final two games of last season.
If the tendon is ruptured, it likely would mean that Sweed could not play in 2010. (Post-Gazette.com)

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for four to six games.
FANTASY INSIGHT:
The Steelers quarterback will be suspended for 4-6 games due to a violation of the league's personal conduct policy, league sources told FOXSports.com.
The punishment will essentially be a conditional suspension, based both on any new information that arises surrounding Roethlisberger and also his behavior moving forward after speaking to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week in New York.
The suspension comes in the wake of accusations by a 20-year-old college student that the two-time Super Bowl champion sexually assaulted her in the bathroom of a Milledgeville, Ga. nightclub on March 5. (FOX Sports)
