Louisville Cardinals vs. West Virginia Mountaineers
Brought to you by Who2beton.com
The Thursday primetime lights will all be affixed on Morgantown as the Louisville
Cardinals look to salvage their season with a win over HC Rodriguez’ Mountaineers.
This was supposed to be the game that separated a leader from the rest of the
Big East pack, but the play on the field hasn’t held true to form. That’s
in large part to Louisville dropping four of their nine games this season, while
the Mountaineers held onto their end of the bargain only dropping one game through
their first eight.
Red flags and alarms were sounding off in just the second game of the season
for the Cardinals. They had to scratch and claw their way towards a victory
over Middle Tennessee State as 41-point home favorites. The Blue Raiders rose
the nations awareness of just how bad the Cards defense was when they were able
to tally 42 points in the defeat. The game played out like an XBOX 360 match-up
with a number of huge plays. The Cardinals then went on to lose to Kentucky
for the first time since 2002, and gave up another 40 points in the process.
The next week confirmed everyone’s doubts about Louisville when they lost
straight up to Syracuse at home as 37-point home chalks. Since that game, Louisville
is 3-2 SU and they come into this colossal match-up with the Mountaineers with
a couple weeks rest under the belts.
As for West Virginia, they to have had a couple weeks to prepare for this match-up,
and they’d love nothing more than to blow the doors off their hated rival
after their ’06 loss all but sealed their BCS fate a season ago. This
will be the third weeknight game of the season for WV. They knocked off Maryland
as 17-point road favorites in mid September, and suffered their only loss of
the season to South Florida a couple weeks later. With this being the only collegiate
pigskin game going, they could get back in the good graces of the voters with
a dominating effort.
This will be their first primetime home game of the season, and Mountaineer
Field is sure to be electric so tune your HDTV sets to ESPN at 7:45 ET to see
what transpires…
SLAM YOUR MAN!!!
