Charlotte Bobcats: 11-20 SU, 11-20 ATSIt’s put up or shut up time for the terrible Charlotte Bobcats.
"We've got to have the will to win,” Charlotte point guard Jeff McInnis told reporters after the Bobcats dropped a 102-96 decision to the New Jersey Nets
as 5 ½-point underdogs. “We've got the team, we've got the players. We
can't keep saying, 'We're young' because we're not young!"
The Bobcats have currently dropped six of their last seven games, covering just twice over the slide.
Chicago Bulls: 13-19 SU, 11-21 ATS
The
Chicago Bulls may finally be turning the corner under interim head
coach Jim Boylan. With Scott Skiles manning the bench, the Bulls
covered just one pointspread over the team’s first seven games. The
writing was on the wall after that.
Now Boylan is brining Ben Gordon off the bench again and the Bulls have won three of their last five. Not earth-shattering, but it’s a start.
Minnesota Timberwolves: 4-28 SU, 13-19 ATS
Four wins through 32 games makes it pretty evident how much Kevin Garnett meant to the Timberwolves. They go through terrible scoring droughts, give up too many easy hoops, and can’t hang on to leads.
''I
anticipated bumps in the road, absolutely,'' head coach Randy Wittman
told reporters earlier this week. ''I didn't anticipate the games that
you kind of have the opportunity to win that we've had that you don't
win some of them.''
Minnesota is riding a five-game losing streak and has just one win in its last 13 contests.
Miami Heat: 8-25 SU, 14-19 ATS
“This year has been a disaster,” Heat coach Pat Riley said this week. “Just an absolute disaster.
“I
take a lot of responsibility for that because I made the changes and
I’m coaching the team. We’re trying to dig down and find a way to come
back, but we’re digging a big hole for ourselves.”
Shaquille O’Neal, Dwyane Wade and Jason Williams
practiced together for the first time in ages this week, but whether
they’ll play Sunday against the Grizzlies is still up in the air. The
Heat have dropped eight of nine heading into that game and have covered
just two poinstpreads over the slump.
New York Knicks: 8-24 SU, 13-19 ATS
It’s
hard not to find New York’s train wreck of a season at least moderately
entertaining. The Big Apple is just giving it to the Knickerbockers
every night at MSG and rightfully so. The Knicks are riding a
seven-game losing skid and have cracked the 100-point barrier twice in
their last 15 games.
"Not trying to be funny, but yeah, it could be worse. We could be 0-30," Malik Rose
told reporters this week. "That's looking at the worst it could
possibly be. I like to look at things as it can get better. That may
seem too glass-half-fullish, but it's the truth. We have nowhere to go
but up."
