Blake back in Kings lineup...

Rumors, moves, injuries and newsmakers...
Hossa
injures knee in first game with Pens; Richards explodes with five
assists in Dallas debut; Havlat back in sick bay with sore shoulder;
Kronwall set to return to Red Wings on Friday; Murray loses first game
back behind Sens' bench; and more...
BLACKHAWKS
Martin Havlat
is back in the Chicago infirmary after re-aggravating a shoulder injury
on Wednesday. The injury-prone forward missed 22 games earlier this
season when he originally dislocated the shoulder. The injury comes at
a bad time for Havlat who had been playing well of late. He had three
goals and one assist over his last five games. Injuries limited the
fragile Havlat to 56 games with the Blackhawks in 2006-07 and just 18
contests in 2005-06 with the Senators.

BRUINS
Boston's Marco Sturm
scored twice in Thursday's 5-1 romp over Pittsburgh. The pair of goals
gives the veteran forward 200 for his career. It was the fifth
consecutive win for the sizzling Bruins. Boston goalie Tim Thomas missed his chance for back-to-back shutouts when Pittsburgh's Pascal Dupuis scored late in the third period. Thomas made 50 saves in blanking Ottawa 4-0 on Tuesday.

FLYERS
Vaclav Prospal
did not make much of an impact in his first game with the Flyers. The
former Tampa Bay star played just over 18 minutes in Philadelphia's 3-1
win over Ottawa on Thursday. He registered no points while taking one
shot on goal. Prospal had 29 goals and 28 assists for the Lightning
before being traded to the Flyers at the deadline.
KINGS
Los Angeles defenseman Rob Blake
was back in the Kings lineup on Thursday after missing 11 games with an
ankle injury. The team captain quickly shook off the rust and managed
to log over 20 minutes of ice time in a 5-4 loss to the Oilers. The
veteran contributed three shots (no points) and a tripping minor in the
contest. The return to the Kings was welcome for Blake who had been
dangled as trade bait in recent weeks.
LIGHTNING
Tampa forward Chris Gratton
will be out indefinitely after opting to undergo surgery next week to
repair a torn labrum in his left hip. The veteran had 10 goals and 11
assists for the Lightning in 60 games this season. Forward Junior Lessard
was called up from Norfolk in the AHL to fill the available roster
spot. He had 16 goals and 20 assists in 55 games in the minors this
season before his promotion.
PENGUINS
A nightmare scenario may be unfolding in Pittsburgh with new acquisition Marian Hossa
knocked out of his first game with the Penguins with a knee injury. The
29-year-old forward had to leave the ice in the second period of
Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Bruins after a knee-on-knee collision with
Boston's Glen Murray.
The severity of the injury is not yet known, but considering how much
Pittsburgh gave up to obtain the 29-year-old sniper, it could turn out
to be one of the costliest trades in NHL history. Hossa is set to
become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of this season.
Pittsburgh gave up Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito and a first-round draft pick to obtain him on Tuesday.
RED WINGS
Detroit will have some much needed help on the blueline on Friday against San Jose after Niklas Kronwall
was activated from injured reserve on Thursday. The Swedish rearguard
has missed Detroit's last 13 games with an injured collarbone. New
acquisition Brad Stuart will also be on hand for the Red Wings who are still missing defensemen Nicklas Lidstrom (knee), Brian Rafalski (groin) and Chris Chelios (knee). Kronwall had five goals and 20 assists in 2007-08 before he went down with the injury.
SENATORS
Bryan Murray's return behind the bench did not make much of a
difference on Thursday as the Senators dropped a 3-1 decision to the
Flyers. It was the seventh loss in the past nine games for Ottawa.
Murray, who was promoted from coach to GM during the offseason, fired
coach John Paddock on Wednesday before opting to take back the coaching
reins.
STARS
Dallas fans certainly liked what they saw from Brad Richards
in his first game in a Stars uniform on Thursday. The crafty forward
had a career-high five points, all assists, in Dallas' 7-4 win over
Chicago. The last Stars player to have a five-point game was Mike Modano back in 2002. Richards' new linemate Niklas Hagman
was the main beneficiary of the former's largesse, scoring his first
career hat trick in the victory. Richards was obtained from Tampa Bay
at the trade deadline.
THRASHERS
Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen
did not have strong outings in their first game with Atlanta on
Thursday. Thrashers coach Don Waddell opted to have the duo skate
together on a line with Eric Perrin
in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Islanders. The duo were a
combined minus-5 in the game and will need to tighten up their play if
they expect to see significant ice time down the stretch. The pair were
obtained from Pittsburgh earlier this week in the deal that saw Marian Hossa land with the Penguins.
