There are a few directions the Dolphins could go with this pick. The defensive line is getting older and adding youth is a must. Michigan’s Alan Branch and Louisville’s Amobi Okoye are available. Losing Wes Welker could mean that Ted Ginn, Jr. is a possibility as well. But with the secondary lacking a quality starting cornerback, the Dolphins decide to draft Michigan’s Leon Hall.

After losing Patrick Kearney in free agency the Falcons are hoping John Abraham can pick up the slack. Adding a young defensive tackle to the mix will take some pressure off of Abraham. Head coach Bobby Petrino is familiar with one defensive star on the board, Louisville’s 20-year old sensation Amobi Okoye. Okoye and Petrino are reunited.

The Niners are thankful that Michigan’s star defensive tackle Alan Branch is left on the board. Okoye was an option for San Francisco, but with the Falcons choosing Okoye over Branch, that leaves the Niners with an easy decision. San Francisco is now the home of the Michigan Monster, Alan Branch.

The Texans traded down to this position and acquired some extra picks for doing so. With Penn State’s Levi Brown on the board, Houston is tempted by his size on their offensive line. But with the lack of offensive firepower and a shaky return game on special teams, the Texans opt to select Ohio State’s speedster Ted Ginn, Jr.

The Rams can score touchdowns with the best of them, but they can also allow more than they score. Last year, the Rams selected Tye Hill with their first round pick, and he was a major contributor this past season. This year, the Rams add a playmaking safety, in Florida’s Reggie Nelson, to help Corey Chavous in the secondary.

The Panthers are known for having a quality defense every year, but something never seems to click. Injuries have a lot to do with their problems on defense and no unit has been hampered more by injuries than the linebackers. Adding some depth and stability is a must and Patrick Willis is the answer.

Adam Carriker

The release of Joey Porter sent shock waves through the Pittsburgh fan base. Finding a suitable replacement to produce the numbers Porter posted each year will be difficult. But adding a lunch pail type of player like Nebraska’s Adam Carriker will be an easy transition to the post-Porter era.

RB

Marshawn Lynch

California

Jr.

5-11

The Packers are in an interesting situation. Brett Favre announced he will return this season. Ahman Green just signed with the Houston Texans. And the secondary needs help at safety. Florida's Reggie Nelson is off the board, so the temptation of adding a defensive back doesn't exist. With the need for a starting running back, Cal's Marshawn Lynch is the easy selection.
