The Jets are an up-and-coming team with an
emerging future. There are some needs on offense as well as defense. Head
coach Eric Mangini named Chad Pennington as the starter for this coming
season, but the Jets have to find him an over the middle weapon. Tight end
Chris Baker is serviceable, but adding a playmaker in Miami’s Greg Olsen makes Pennington’s game that much better.

Looking at the Eagles secondary, the safety
position is a concern, especially after losing Michael Lewis (49ers) in free
agency, and Brian Dawkins is getting older. There are rumors that the Eagles
are interested in Colts free agent Mike Doss, and that could affect this
pick. Miami’s
Brandon Meriweather may be a reach
at this pick, but he answers the concern at safety.

Cutting ties with long-time Saints receiver
Joe Horn was a tough decision for the franchise. Finding a replacement for
Horn is a tougher challenge. Marques Colston becomes the team’s number-one
receiver, but is Devery Henderson a capable second receiver? With that
question, the Saints add a Bayou favorite – LSU’s Dwayne Bowe.

The Patriots addressed one need with their
first selection (24th overall) and will look to add depth to
another area on their team. New England is a
team that’s always looking to improve their line play on both sides of the
ball. Adding depth on the offensive line is necessary and Texas’ Justin Blalock is a huge lineman that gives the Patriots
versatility.

With Adalius Thomas going to New
England via free agency, the Ravens have to find a replacement
for Thomas. This draft is full of talented linebackers with big impact
ability. Drafting a player as versatile as Purdue’s Anthony Spencer will benefit the Ravens’ defense.

The Chargers need to add a receiver to their
offense and give Phillip Rivers a deep threat. South Carolina’s Sidney Rice is the
perfect receiver to fit in the Chargers offense. Rice is tall, fast and can jump out of any stadium. He’s the
perfect red zone threat for the Chargers.

It’s obvious that Rex Grossman is still a work
in progress, and there are some serious doubts that he will become a quality
quarterback. One way to find out is to give him some protection, and Auburn’s Ben Grubbs is as technically sound as
any lineman in the draft.

The Colts are ready to wave goodbye to
linebacker Cato June, but at this point in free agency, no one has signed
him? With his future unknown, the Colts look to move forward. Penn State’s
Paul Posluszny is an excellent option for Indianapolis. He’s tough, physical and a
steady leader on a defense. Posluszny
is the perfect fit for the Colts defense.

out of the 1st round that appeared in my last mock draft: Jon
Beason, OLB – Miami (out of first round due to tweaked ACL), Charles Johnson,
