The Jets have some areas that need to be
addressed, and at this selection they can pick the best available player if
they want. On offense, the Jets need a tight end and another receiver, while
on defense they need depth and help at cornerback. Adding a player like
Texas’ Aaron Ross, a versatile
defensive back, is a nice selection for the Jets.

Looking at the Eagles secondary, the safety
position is a concern, especially after losing Michael Lewis in free agency,
and Brian Dawkins is getting older. With Texas’ Michael Griffin and Miami’s
Brandon Meriweather available the Eagles will debate between the two. But the
Eagles didn’t expect Arkansas’ Chris Houston to be available and
Houston provides depth at a position the Eagles covet.

The Saints had one of the best drafts last
year with the selection of RB Reggie Bush in the first round and WR Marques
Colston in the seventh round. This year, the Saints look to address the
secondary, but with all the top corners off the board, they will look to
replace WR Joe Horn. The replacement comes from the Bayou in LSU’s Dwayne
Bowe.

The Patriots added a versatile linebacker in
Timmons with their first pick and will continue to upgrade their defense with
this selection. New England has to think about the present and the future in
regards to their secondary. Rodney Harrison is getting older and a
replacement is necessary. Texas’ Michael
Griffin is a nice successor.
