Al Davis loves athletic players...

1. Dolphins – Chris Long DE, UVa – Howie Long's son and a Parcells kind of player. Solid pass rush and superior run defense.
2. Rams – Jake Long LT, Michigan – Huge, strong, fundamentally sound and
consistent. The LT from the coaches lounge.
3. Falcons – Darren McFadden RB, Arkansas – A classic speed back with some
size. A big play machine.
4. Raiders – Vernon Gholston DE, Ohio St – This is DE from central casting.
Al Davis loves athletic players above all else.
5. Chiefs – Matt Ryan QB, Boston
College – The clear top QB coming out of the Senior Bowl.
6. Jets – Sedrick Ellis DT, USC – With Dorsey's injury coming to light, the
best DT.
7. Patriots – Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB, Tennessee St – The biggest
mover in the draft. Now the pick of a solid CB group.
8. Ravens – Ryan Clady LT, Boise
State – More athletic than Jake Long, but not as NFL ready.
9. Bengals – Glenn Dorsey DT, LSU – The former top player has chronic knee
issues. He can play, but it costs him several $Million.
10. Saints – Keith Rivers LB, USC –
For those that want production in college, there is none better.
11. Bills – Jonathan Stewart RB, Oregon
- This is a freakish size/speed combination.
12. Broncos – Aqib Talib CB, Kansas – A big CB, with
some tweener issues, but also a playmaker.
13. Panthers – Kenny Phillips S, Miami – By far the best of a weak safety
class.
14. Bears – Brian Brohm QB,
Louisville – He's the most NFL ready QB in the draft, but does not have
Ryan's upside.
15. Lions – Mike Jenkins CB, South
Florida – More talented than polished at this point. He's good, but has a lot
of room to improve.
16. Cardinals – Rashard Mendenhall RB, Illinois – Another
great size/speed combination. More elusive than Stewart.
17. Vikings – Leodis McKelvin CB, Troy St – The opposite end of the physical
spectrum from Talib. A pure cover CB, and can return kicks.
18. Texans – Gosder Cherilus OT, Boston College – Finally the Texans address
their LT problem.
19. Eagles – Phillip Merling DE, Clemson – A hustler and a hitter. His stock
is rising.
20. Buccanears – Felix Jones RB, Arkansas - He showed game breaking speed
when McFadden was hurt.
21. Redskins – Malcolm Kelly WR, Oklahoma – The best big WR in this draft.
He's not the fastest, but he catches in traffic.
22. Cowboys – Antoine Cason CB, Arizona – Started every game of his college
career.
23. Steelers – Dan Connor LB, Penn State – The other Pennsylvania team calls
on LineBacker U again. Jack Ham worked out well.
24. Titans – Chris Williams LT, Vanderbilt – The WRs need help, but so does
Vince Young.
25. Seahawks – Branden Albert – OG, Virginia. Seattle made a mistake in
letting Hutchinson go.
26. Jaguars – Quentin Groves DE, Auburn – There is no such thing as too many
DEs.
27. Chargers – Reggie Smith CB/S,
Oklahoma – At worst he will be a poor man's Aqib Talib.
28. Cowboys – Mario Manningham WR, Michigan – The Cowboys need someone to
develop into the speed WR role.
29. 49'ers – Derrick Harvey DE, Florida – The Giants proved that pass rush
rules.
30. Packers – Patrick Lee CB, Auburn – The Pack can still rush, but the
coverage needs help. This is a very tradable pick.
31. Cheaters – none
32. Giants – James Hardy WR, Indiana – A nice combination of size and speed.
Also a very tradeable pick.
Every team from Dallas to
the end of round one will get multiple offers from teams wanting to trade up.
If Miami does not take a QB first, they will be expected do so second. So,
teams like Atlanta (if they do not take Ryan), Baltimore, Kansas City and
Chicago, will want to trade in front of them. So Miami may trade up as well, in
anticipation.
